Donate Books
Is your bookshelf bursting at the seams? Whether you’re masterfully downsizing or just clearing a little "breathing room" in your home, your pre-loved books are looking for their next great adventure!
Instead of letting those stories gather dust, donate them to the Friends of the Woodland Hills Branch Library. Simply drop them off inside the library, next to the front desk during opening hours.
Please place your book donations during opening hours of the library, next to the front desk. Just ask one of our friendly librarians, they are there to assist you should you need directions.

(Next to the front desk)
Please do not leave your donations outside by the front door as they can get damaged by the weather.
Whether your shelves are home to edge-of-your-seat thrillers, timeless classics, or cookbooks that have inspired a thousand dinners, we want to help them find a new home! We aren't just about books, either—we’re a treasure trove for all kinds of media. We happily welcome your DVDs for movie nights, CDs and LPs for the music lovers, and audiobooks for those who like their stories on the go.
To keep our collection "library-lovely," we just ask that your treasures be gently used and well-loved, rather than "well-worn." Think of it this way: if it’s missing a cover, has a case of the "water-bottle blues" (warped pages), or is missing a disc, it might be better off in the recycling bin. But if it’s clean, complete, and ready for a second act, bring it by! We take just about every category under the sun—from children's picture books to hard-to-find history—and every single donation helps us keep the library's heart beating strong.
We request that your donations be in good condition: clean, no water damage, mold or odor, pages whole, binding intact, and pages free of highlights, underlining and notes. Please no old yellowed paperbacks. In addition, there are certain types of books we encourage you to recycle instead of donating:
Encyclopedias, dictionaries, yearbooks, museum pamphlet guides and maps
Magazines, professional or literary journals or publisher’s advance proof/reader copies
VHS or audio cassette tapes, homemade DVDs or CDs, videos and tapes
Old computer or game software
Professional books more than 5 years old (computer, technology, professional medical books)
Toys, address books, photo albums, or household decor items
