In the first three decades, the Friends campaigned to save the parking lot trees during reconstruction in 2001, donated $13,500 for a book security system, and helped pay for the installation of a drinking fountain. Today, profits from the book sales and member donations are used for children’s and adult library programming, including:

The Friends of the Woodland Hills Library is dedicated to ensuring our library remains a vibrant, modern, and welcoming hub for every member of our community. Through your support, we have recently funded several key improvements that bring more comfort, better technology and the latest stories to our neighbors.
Children's Rug: The Friends generously gifted the branch with a beautiful new area rug to be used for children's storytimes! With this addition, little ones are freer to express excitement during their fun in the community room without disturbing other library patrons below.
New Furniture and Reupholstered Furniture: We believe the library should be a place where young minds feel at home. Because our local teens have made them a favorite spot for study and relaxation, the Friends have provided funding for additional Moon Chairs and the professional reupholstering of current pieces. These updates ensure the teen library remains a stylish, comfortable sanctuary that encourages a lifelong love of reading.
Sound System: Clear communication is the heart of great programming. To support the diverse array of guest speakers, workshops, and educational events held in our Community Room, we have invested in a high-quality integrated speaker system. This new sound bundle ensures that every voice is heard, making our community gatherings more accessible and engaging for all attendees.
Hot Off the Press Books: There is nothing quite like the excitement of a new release. For many years the Friends provided a "Hot Off the Press" initiative, contributing funds for the library to purchase the most anticipated new titles the moment they hit the shelves. When you open a book and see the "Donated by the Friends of the Woodland Hills Branch Library" stamp on the inside cover, you are holding a testament of this vital initiative.
Your support makes this possible. Every piece of furniture, every book, and every technological upgrade is a testament to what we can achieve together. Thank you for helping us keep our library at the heart of the community.
